Founder's story
Becoming a doctor was my second career. I'd spent my twenties building software, but wanted to help people more impactfully.
The summer I started medical school, I also got married and by the time I was entering residency, two babies - Suvi and Rain - had also arrived on the scene. (They are now teenagers, btw!)
Between learning, work, personal projects and family, there was so much to do, and the constant pressure of not being able to do it all. I could see the writing on the wall; I could see why many people, especially in healthcare, were burning out.

Talking with others, I discovered that a lot of people were quietly suffering from stress caused by constant demands, urgency and lack of downtime. They loved their work and strove to make a positive impact on the world, but at a very high cost to themselves and their families. They worked hard, yet felt they weren't achieving the results they wanted. They felt out of balance; their time was not their own.
I did a lot of reading on time management, productivity, intentionality, positive psychology, deep work, and flow, and new frameworks began to take shape.
I started MakeTimeFlow to help people thrive in their lives. People ask me why a doctor would focus on this. What I care about is helping people flourish, because isn't that what the “why” of healthcare should be?
Today we are a family company. My wife Heli Tuomi is a partner and together we're working with visionary people and organizations, who want to make a difference in the world, to help them flourish and have maximum impact - without burnout.
